Meet Eater of the Week Anders, 10 months, hailing from Columbus, Ohio.
Anders has a facial birthmark, known as a Congenital Melanocytic Facial Nevus. In simple terms, Congenital Melanocytic Nevus (CMN) means a pigment-based birthmark present at birth. According to Nevus Outreach, small melanocytic nevi are quite common, with one in every 50 to 100 people born with small birthmarks. Large and giant melanocytic nevi are less common and rarer. Unfortunately, people with CMN often face challenges due to outside reactions, self-perception, family perception, and medical misinformation. Fortunately, kindness, external support, education, and networking can help. For more information and outreach, check out nevus.org.
Anders’ parents are working hard to prevent eating by introducing him to a variety of flavors and textures early on. Follow Anders’ eating journey at @kayla_rock on Instagram.
